Ponting 'Mowbray Boy' Tasmanian Pinot Noir 2023
2022 Vintage
GOLD Wine Showcase Magazine 95 POINTS
Ricky and Ben travelled to Tasmania, including the Tamar Valley near where Ricky spent his youth, to personally select the grapes for this wine.
The Tamar Valley is located in the north of Tasmania, a cool climate wine region synonymous with Chardonnay and Pinot Noir. A diverse region influenced by the Tamar River, with rich and fertile soil and gentle rains that arrive from the Southern Ocean. A renowned region for producing exceptional quality wine.
This Pinot Noir showcases typical Tasmanian Pinot Noir characteristics of savoury, spicy red cherries. An unctuous palate with bright, crunchy fruit, savouriness, and dripping with ripe strawberries. It’s a fine, elegant, structured wine that will have you salivating just thinking about it.

The Mowbray Boy Story
Ricky Ponting like most Australians started his cricket career as a proud member of his local cricket club, the Mowbray Cricket Club.
Ponting gained a reputation as a cricket prodigy when at age 11 he scored four centuries for the Mowbray Under-13s in a five day Tasmanian cricket tournament. He then scored a further two centuries when promoted to play in the Under-16 tournament a month later. The “Mowbray Boy” made his first class debut for Tasmania aged 17 and by age 20 he had made his Test debut for Australia.
“As a boy I learned about cricket and life listening to the stories of my dad and the men of the Mowbray Cricket Club.” - Ricky Ponting
Expert Reviews
“Fresh red cherries and a bit of dried herb work, good acid and crunch. It's a properly nice drink. I like that Ben hasn't tried to make it into a blockbuster wine with the celebrity name attached.”
STUART KNOX - GOOD FOOD August 2020
“Light savoury red cherry fruit with a nice infusion of oak. Light boded but with excellent palate”
RAY JORDAN - THE WEST AUSTRALIAN August 2020
